Pemi-Baker Hospice & Home Health Promotes Liver Health and Support at Home.
This October, during Liver Awareness Month, Pemi-Baker Hospice & Home Health reminds our community how important it is to care for one of the body’s hardest-working organs — the liver. The liver plays a major role in keeping us healthy, yet liver disease often develops quietly.
Conditions like hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, and liver cancer can affect anyone, but early detection and healthy daily habits can make a big difference. Eating a balanced diet, limiting alcohol, staying active, and maintaining a healthy weight are simple steps that go a long way toward protecting your liver.
For those living with liver disease or other chronic illnesses, Pemi-Baker’s home health and hospice teams are here to help. Our caring Registered Nurses, Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs), and Social Workers provide support right at home — helping with symptom management, medications, and comfort care, all while keeping patients connected to their loved ones. It can be physically and emotionally challenging, but the Pemi-Baker team will offer round-the-clock support to manage symptoms, relieve discomfort, and improve quality of life for patients and their families.
How Can Home Health & Hospice Care Help?
- Symptom management: Liver disease can cause pain, swelling, nausea, and difficulty eating. The Pemi-Baker team will help manage these symptoms with medications and other therapies, so you can be more comfortable.
- Emotional support: Living with liver disease can be overwhelming and stressful. The Pemi-Baker team will work with you and your family to offer emotional and psychological support. This might include talking through fears or concerns or connecting you with counseling services.
- Coordination of care: You’ll likely have many doctors involved in your care, such as liver specialists (hepatologists), surgeons, and primary care doctors. The Pemi-Baker team will help coordinate your treatment, ensuring everyone works together to meet your needs.
